The good stuff: Caffeine
Here's another product I had been really looking forward to that just didn't deliver. The idea of being able to get my early morning dose of caffeine without having to ingest something is quite appealing to me. The though of just hopping in the shower, grabbing a magic bar of soap, and instantly becoming alive and awake is quite the fantasy indeed, and that's exactly what ShowerShock soap aims to do. According to the site, each bar gives you 12 uses and each use gives you 200 freakin MG of Caffeine! Crazyness!! Now, here's the problem:
Showershock is roughly the same size as a standard bar of soap, only slightly larger. That being said, how many of you out there can kill off a full bar of soap in 12 uses? Unless you have a fear of reusing skin cells, odds are a bar of soap lasts you a while. SO, what we have here is a bar of soap that pretty much requires you to paint yourself with a thick and unrealistic layer of itslef and just stand there while the caffeine soaks in. I'm guessing that the average showergoer would probably only be able to get a caffeine kick out of Shower Shock by cramming it up their butt for about 5 minutes, or taking a healthy bite out of the bar itself....either way, it's not so appealing....AND NOT RECOMMENDED...because god knows some of you will try..... I think what I'm going to have to do is basically cut off a large chunk and scrub myself with it till it is all gone...then just sit there till I start to feel something so that I have a little bit of info to add to this review. This stuff has been featured on: TechTV, NBC, CNN, and Ripley's Believe it or Not so you know it can't all be BS....still, I find it hard to believe that I'm not using a damn bar of soap properly.....maybe I have been doing it wrong all my life. I guess after my next test with Shower Shock I'll know for sure.
** OK, so this morning I went crazy with this soap. I used up a very noticable amount and definitly did start feeling the caffeine kick in. Once you go absolutly apeshit with the amount you use, the effects are definitly worth it. Problem is it took quite a while to get a sizeable dosage of the stuff...basically, once you think you have soaped yourself up enough, do it again...then once you think you have soaped yourself up enough after that, do it once more. You'll end up with enough soap on yourself that it looks more like you are covered in shaving cream that bar soap....but it does the trick. The effects are pretty fast acting, though they don't seem to last as long as some of the edible stuff out there. Still, you're wide awake even before you think about putting on a pot of coffee....
***It would seem that as the bar gets smaller the caffeine content gets more concentrated. Towards the end of my bar this stuff was TOTALLY rocking. Not sure if it was just how the bar I got was, or if that's to be expected from all of the bars. Regardless, it was definitly worth it.
