Yet another diet drink I like...who’d have thought that I would actually 1) Find diet drinks that I actually liked, 2) actually endorse them. Now don’t get me wrong…I still have a place in my heart for anything with enough sugar to kill a small monkey, but I’m kind of getting to the point where I just like the change of knowing I am not pushing myself one sip closet to diabetes every time I pop open a can of something. In the case of Wired X’s Passion Fruit energy drink I at least have joy in the fact I am pushing an inevitable hospital visit off by maybe a day or two by ingesting a bit less sugar than normal.
So basically what you get here is a pretty good tasting sugar free energy drink. While it is labeled as Passion Fruit, it tastes more to me like a really good, very well sweetened grapefruit. Now I know it’s passion fruit, (it does say it on the freakin label) it’s just that the flavor to me gets changed just enough by using Sucralose as a sweetener that it starts to trigger my brain into thinking grapefruit instead. Regardless, what you have is a nice fruity flavored drink that does not contain enough of the typical crappy “sugar free” type taste to throw you off. Now make no mistake, it’s there…it’s just that Wired X does a DAMN good job of covering it up. I really wish a bunch of the other diet drink makers would learn from them and quit insisting that we actually have to like the way the crap tastes. Just because you can’t or choose not to ingest sugar, does NOT mean that you like the way sugar alternatives taste…so a big thank you to Wired X for not treating Sucralose like an actual flavor.
Now the over all power of Wired X Passion Fruit is not as strong as I would have hoped, but it’s not exactly weak either. It does its job fairly well, but it’s nothing I’d choose to keep me going on a late night drive. Still, it will probably work extremely well for most folks out there as a do all pick-me-up to give you that nice little burst of energy through out the day. Don’t be afraid to give this stuff a shot just because it’s sugar free, low cal, low carb….it actually tastes pretty good. To top it off, Wired X donates a portion of all sales from Wired X Passion Fruit with Calcium towards research for the cure to breast cancer…so you can even have a slightly more clear conscience while you chug down a can.
