Let me sum this one up really quickly for you: Grape Monster. To me, Ace seems like the base flavor of Monster Energy Drink with grape added. The Monsterish taste is a bit more toned down, and over all Ace might be just a tiny hint less sweet, but in the end it’s still a clone type drink. Now don’t get me wrong…clone type drinks can quite often taste better than the original. They take a well liked formula and alter it just a bit to make it slightly different…sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. I don’t think Ace is either of those…instead, what you get is a drink SIMILAR to Monster with just enough to make it stand out. To me it’s neither better nor worse….just a bit different. Now the interesting thing about this stuff is that some folks really taste the grape, others don’t. From my experience out of the 4 folks (myself being one) who I let taste it, 3 of us could immediately taste the grape, the third didn’t notice it at all. As a matter of fact, sometimes my taste buds don’t pick up on it either….at other times it stands out like a hot chick at a Comic-Con convention. Regardless, I think I actually prefer Ace to Monster at this point. It’s a taste I know and love with just enough refinement to make it different…plus any can decked out in a WWII theme with bomb markers, bullet holes, olive drab paint, rivets and bomber nose art wins big points for coolness in my book.
So getting on to the important part of how well it works….Ace delivers. I’d say it’s right there with Monster power wise…maybe even a bit stronger. It will definitely do the job of waking you up in the morning, or keeping you going at night. I’d pick this stuff before a night out on the town for sure. It’s got a nice initial kick and a pretty long lasting boost to keep you heat pumping and your brain firing…all in all, pretty decent. For you folks who like Monster, DEFINITLY give this stuff a shot. If you are kind of on the edge about it, try Ace anyway…it’s just different enough that it might win you over.
