The good stuff: 150MG Caffeine
XTZ was kind enough to send us an assortment of their Turbo Truffles super charged gourmet truffle chocolates...and we love them.
These things have MAJOR kick. You feel the effects pretty damn fast because they are strong and tiny. Basically instead of slowly drinking down an energy drink, you can take 150mg of caffeine in one quick bite. If you need a good punch in the morning this is the way to go. I would NOT recommend 2 of them however as that much caffeine is probably not very good for you. DEFINITLY NOT FOR HYPERACTIVE CHILDREN!
Outrageous Orange
These guys contain a typical orange filling flavor with a hint of something extra. Not a sweet as most orange truffle candies which is a big plus for me. They seem to be made with semisweet tasting chocolate which helps to balance out the orange. Over all, not bad. Much better than I was expecting especially since I typically hate orange cream chocolates.
Peanut Butter Blast
I don’t really taste peanut butter….but pretty good over all. Tastes more like a plain old chocolate candy with a little bit of something else added for flavor. The filling is kind of moist and crumbly. Over all, better than the orange…..I could definitely eat another one….but again, I value my life and I have to drive my car home in a few hours.
Hot Rod Hazelnut
What the hell did I just eat? I know it says hazelnut, but that wasn’t hazelnut…I’m not sure what it was, but as long as it goes down and stays down we’ll call it even. Thank god for the chocolate…..Save yourself and swallow this one whole. It’s small enough that it will probably make it down and you won’t have to ask yourself what the hell you just stuck on your tongue. Oh, but did I mention I am now wired out the ASS on caffeine? Yeah...even the ones that don't taste so good still work like crazy.
Mint Madness
One of the best in the bunch…it actually tastes minty. Now, given the fact that I had the Hazelnut truffle a few hours ago, odds are I just did some significant damage to my brain by ingesting this…but again, I’m here to take it for the team. As I said, this is one of the best so far…there was a mildly unfamiliar taste mixed in with the mint but it was not overpowering enough to put me off or deter me from having another one. I think this would be one of my definite choices of flavors to buy in bulk. Having a bowl of these on your desk could prove fatal to anyone grabbing a handful unaware of their purpose. Come to think about it, it would be a blast to stick these babies in a dish next to the decaffeinated coffee. XTZ, want to send me a full bag?…I’ll be sure to save the recordings from the security cameras that day.
Toffee Tornado
I REALLY liked this one. Very tasty indeed. This is another one that would be bad if you had a bunch at your desk. Toffee Tornado has a nice flavor but it is lacking that strange taste the Mint Madness contained. Very smooth with a hint of toffee…nothing overpowering about this one. Another flavor I would buy in the 50 pack. Children BEWARE…given the amount of caffeine in these, Toffee Tornado actually taste to good to be safe. Honestly I could eat another one but at 150 Mg of caffeine it would probably kill me.
Coffee Craze
A damn fine candy especially if you like coffee. It seems to actually have ground up coffee beans mixed in with the filling so the flavor is solid. No real aftertaste that I noticed. Coffee Craze is much stronger than that of the other turbo truffles as far as flavor goes, but it still contains the same amount of caffeine as the rest. So far I have been really happy with the last few Turbo Truffle flavors I have tried and this one did not let me down in the least. Now I just need more...hear that XTZ folks??? We need MORE....This stuff is like chocolate crack and we need to be hittin' tha pipe yo.
