It’s been a while since I have gotten any new energy candy to try out, and by damn we have another winner on our hands. Crackheads are basically chocolate covered espresso beans…no candy shell, just chocolate and bean, plain and simple. Where Crackheads differ from the others however is in the fact you get both white and dark chocolate coatings. While I’m not so big on white chocolate myself, I found it to work rather well in this application. The sweet creamy nature of white chocolate hid the powerful flavor of the espresso bean while the dark chocolate helped to bring it out giving you very different tastes in one box of candy. Mixing the two together in one mouthful gives you a very nice mocha-ish taste. I was more drawn to separate the two flavors out and eat them in turn, but grabbing whatever rolled out of the box and chewing away still tasted great.
The kick you get from these guys is totally up to you. I popped about 6 and had a pretty decent little rush all things considered….I grabbed a couple here and there through the day as needed for a slight eye opener and since you get about 26 or so per box it lasted a nice while. With the second box I had I decided to just go all out and eat them like regular candy in one straight shot…that was probably not such a good idea as I didn’t really need to be wired at that time…and wired I was. Seriously…we are talking that uncomfortable over stimulated hypersensitive wired that causes you to wonder why flies move so slow and be able to count the number of times a hummingbird flaps its wings…it just was not what I needed, but by damn I was happy to know that when I wanted to be able to see the individual scan lines on my TV I had the means to do so.
So to sum up here:
1) These little guys taste great
2) If you need a slight boost have 4 or 5 of these little guys
3) If you need to out talk an ADD 12 year old on a sugar marathon, down the box.
