Chargers
Price: $1.99 (for about 4 servings)
Taste: 8
Power: 4.5
The good stuff: Chocolate and an Espresso bean.
It’s no secret that I like chocolate covered coffee beans so it should be no surprise that I absolutely LOVE chargers. What Shock-A-Lots were to M&M’s, Chargers are to Shock-A-Lots. Put simply, these little guys taste freakin great and have some solid power. If you have ever tasted chocolate covered coffee beans, then you know basically what Chargers taste like. Oddly enough however, these are actually milder than pretty much all the coated coffee beans I have tasted in the past which is truly strange when you consider they are ESPRESSO beans….typically the stronger tasting of the two. There is a bit less chocolate in each piece, but that’s to be expected because the beans are a bit smaller themselves yet the bean never overpowers the entire taste….it’s all quite well balanced and the candy coating on the outside gives it that little extra sweetness to top it all off. Taste wise, you just can’t go wrong with these…
Power wise, Chargers do not disappoint at all. While about 5 or 6 Shock-A-Lots = 1 cup of coffee, about 4 of these smaller little guys contain the same amount of caffeine….to top it off, they come in a much more portable little tin. The Chargers container looks like D Cell Battery, and as Richard over at ChemicalEvolution.com points out it holds about $2 in quarters….which for some reason really makes me happy (yes, I am VERY easily amused.) Once you have empty tin, start putting quarters in it…when it’s full, you have enough to buy another full tin of Chargers….hooray for the simple things in life.
The scary part about Chargers is that they are not at all filling, come in a small package and taste good…in other words before you know it you may find that you ate the entire package…Pretty much like drinking 4 cups of coffee in a matter of minutes…..maybe something to try when I get bored one day at work….Getting hyped up on caffeine and annoying coworkers always makes the day go by faster.
